The grotto is a space created by nature as an early architectural prototype discovered by humans, which once provided us with essential shelter. This book attempts to explore the concept of the grotto and its influence on architecture today.

The book begins with research in two directions in geology. One is to find the process of grotto formation, and the other is to analyze the morphological characteristics of grottos. Also, the book tries to find some contemporary architectural references that are similar to the aspects of these two grottos. Although this is just the architect's personal art practice. But in fact they have become a tiny but promising phenomenon. This book summarizes and analyzes this phenomenon as Grottoism.

Finally, through different experiments, the author of the book tries to find and summarize an architectural method that imitates natural caves to create a more flexible space.
